In 1969, in honor of the prestigious Monaco circuit, TAG Heuer launched a chronograph with a new design. Its water-resistant square case - the first in watch making history - houses the Chronomatic, the world’s first automatic chronograph movement with a microrotor. Steve McQueen had an empathy for this audacious, rebellious watch and in 1970 chose to wear it in the film “Le Mans”, dedicated to motor racing.
