Birthstones
Throughout history and the world, gemstones are believed to have mystical powers and attributes. The fiery ruby was passionate and blue sapphire was calming. For 2,000 years ago, stones have been paired with months of the year and signs of the Zodiac. There have been many different sets of birthstones used throughout history and in different cultures. Kirk Jewelers follows the list adopted by Jewelers of America in 1912. It is currently the most widely used list in the United States. Some mystical associations are also listed.
